In 2009, the Parish Council was approached about a need for a licensed daycare in Humphrey. After a parish survey and a donation for a building, it was determined that St. Francis would open a daycare. The site was to be where the convent was between the church and elementary school and would be called Little Saints Daycare. Originally, the building was to be a modular classroom that would’ve been moved from Aurora. After some deliberation and taking into account the state of the building, it was determined the classroom needed too much work. This, along with the cost of moving the building, was going to be too costly; therefore it was decided to build. Construction started in the spring of 2010 and was finished in September. On October 4, 2010, Archbishop George Lucas celebrated mass in the high school gym and then dedicated the daycare building. With an increase in enrollment, it was deemed necessary to finish the basement of the building to provide more room for the children. Work was started and completed in the spring of 2011. The daycare is licensed for 55 children and is keeping busy.
